Welcome to my way in the Wasatch and another year in the mountains climbing and riding lines in search of a bit of peace and some tasty turns. What will this year bring? It is late October as I begin to write and the stoke is high. Watching the weather patterns and winterizing the house is a priority but my boards are calling to me. I’m spending free time getting gear ready and dreaming of deep days of pow ahead. Today is Oct 29th and the snows came.
The storm came today. It has been a long wait and although it was only about 4 inches by afternoon everything being white calmed the entire universe down for me. About 3pm I grabbed an old rock board I had and hiked up the road to the top to ride down. Early season, mid season, late season, it doesn’t really matter, just to get some turns feels like a blessing. Lesson for early season riding, keep your nose up and skim across the top. It is so amazing to be able to feel a board under my feet again for the first time since last May. I love the hiking and summertime outdoors in the Wasatch mountains but the winter is pure magic.
